Fifteen years on - Fromus Centre co-founder Don Tricker retires

After 15 years of volunteer service to the Saxmundham community, Don Tricker has finally hung up his boots.  Don was key to founding SADCIC (the Saxmundham and District Community Interest Company) and in particular the Fromus Centre, and was the organisation’s Chair for 8 years.

Now that the new Fromus Community Centre is up and running in its new home in Street Farm Road, Don is finally taking the chance to ease back, though he remains actively involved with the Smile Café which operates from the Centre (image here, Don with son Dominic) .

Don declared:

“I was proud to be the SADCIC Chair for 8 years and, at long last, I’m retiring. It’s been a long struggle but we finally made it and the new Fromus Centre is not only bigger and better but already it’s proving an even more popular venue for clubs, meetings and events. It’s proved to be a very positive solution in meeting growing local community demands.”

Steve Palmer, current SADCIC Chair, praised Don’s contribution:

“Don has given immense sustained support and drive to the SADCIC project over many years. Don was key in setting up SADCIC as a Community Interest Company in 2007. Never giving up and pursuing the end goal with vigour has been central to our success, and I would like to thank Don and wish him a well-deserved retirement from front line action.”

Don recalled the origins of the Fromus Centre.  15 years ago a group of 8 local volunteers came together to form The Saxmundham & District Community Interest Company (SADCIC) to improve Saxmundham’s community amenities.
